Affiliate advertising as used here is simply a merchandise owner providing a product for sale, and then paying you (the affiliate) a payment on the direct, and occasionally 2nd-tier sales that you create. My description only goes up to 2-tier because beyond that we get more into the monarchy of multi-level marketing where various regulatory rules apply.
