Since 1993 Velvet Mangan has been on forefront of women’s recovery with her highly successful approach to alcoholism and drug abuse treatment for women at Safe Harbor House. Velvet has been on the front line in the battle over addiction for more than 23 years. Christopher Kennedy Lawford features her inspirational story as an unsung hero in his book, Moments of Clarity. Velvet’s personal battle with addiction and her miraculous journey from a 15 year old homeless addict to a woman whose own recovery led her to a vision of creating a gender specific, safe haven for young women suffering from the disease of addiction.
